I didn’t have to hurry this morning but was able to eat breakfast at Maryknoll before heading to the airport for the trip to Louisville, Kentucky where I would see my family. Click here for pictures from the day.

Trip to the USA–9 October
Today I started a three-week trip to the US and Taiwan for meetings with Maryknoll. Click here to see some pictures from the beginning of the journey.
Wow!….sorry!
Wow, this is the longest I have ever gone without being able to post something here on the website. Sorry! It’s been a combination of travel schedules, busy times when I needed to be at places here in Kentucky, and attention to work that has followed me from Cambodia that has kept me offline. I hope tomorrow, Saturday (it’s 10:41 PM Friday night here in Kentucky as I write) will allow me to start posting about this trip.
The Last Supper
Every Wednesday the Cambodia Mission Team of Maryknoll has a meeting and a liturgy and then a meal together. This week was Fr. Bob Wynne’s last time to be with us before he departs for a new assignment in the United States so today’s gathering was special as members of the CMT expressed their appreciation for his presence and his work and wished him well in his new work.
Bob was the presider at the liturgy we celebrated today.
At the end Sr. Ann Sherman (standing) formally thanked Bob and presented him with some small gifts (easy to carry in his suitcase!) to remind him of his time in Cambodia.
Fr. Bob’s last masses
This weekend was the last time for Fr. Bob Wynne to celebrate with the Saturday and Sunday English communities before he takes up a new assignment in the United States. Click here to see pictures from the two farewells.
Kevin’s Birthday
Today was Fr. Kevin Conroy’s birthday and we celebrated it as part of our regular Maryknoll Wednesday meeting.
Kevin: “I was afraid no one would remember my birthday so I dressed up a little….”
Sr. Regina: “I’m staying away as far as I can. I think I’m safe here….”
Learn about MKLM!
I know many people have, at one time or another, entertained ideas of serving in mission in another country. But then school or careers or families intervened and the mission idea was put on the shelf. At some point, though, you may discover you can take your mission ideas off the shelf to see where the mission call leads you.
Maryknoll Lay Missioners offers orientation, language training, and support in mission placements in Asia, Africa, and Latin America to people from their 20s to their 60s–or maybe a little higher? If you’d like to learn a little more about Maryknoll mission from Karen Bortvedt, the Maryknoll Lay Missioner recruiter, she will offer a webinar (a seminar on the web) on August 15 at 10:00 AM EST. If you would like to take a peek, send an e-mail to join@MKLM.org for login information. This webinar–and more to follow–are just to give information.
Another Farewell
This evening Maryknoll Cambodia said goodbye to Sami Scott, a Maryknoll Lay Missioner who has been with us for ten years. She is transferring to a new Maryknoll mission in Haiti.
Farewell to Sami
Sami Scott, a Maryknoll Lay Missioner, is finishing her term in Cambodia and moving to a new mission in Haiti. Today was her last time to be with the Cambodia Mission Team for their weekly Wednesday gathering, and at the end of mass we presented a small gift to Sami.
