The sun is not something taken for granted here in Cambodia. People without electricity, technology, and modern conveniences use the sun instead. They live much closer to nature. On the other hand, people who live outside, don’t travel encapsulated in cars, and are on the street a lot take precautions against too much sun. This is the first of a series about the sun and shows people creatively trying to keep their heads shaded from the sun. Keep in mind that in all these pictures the temperature would be about 90ºF+, which brings to mind the question: is it worse getting a little bit darker skin because of the sun or sweltering under more clothing?
