Day 4 (Thursday)

The board of directors meeting for the Maryknoll Lay Missioners officially began on Friday but this Thursday was full of additional meetings in preparation for the full board sessions.

The first meeting of the day was to discuss a consultant’s architectural evaluation of the Regina Coeli building, owned by the Maryknoll Sisters, which has been proposed as a possible new headquarters for the Maryknoll Lay Missioners.
There was a working lunch after the consultant’s report. Here Mark Wittenberg (back), Bill Vos (front), and Mike Wrob (right) collect sandwiches and snacks to take into the meeting room.
At 2:00 PM there was a meeting of the Foundation Board for Maryknoll Lay Missioners to which all the board members were invited. Summit Strategies presented their assessment of recent market conditions and their strategies for investment for the lay missioners’ foundation account.
In the evening the board members had a dinner with the new candidates for Maryknoll Lay Missioners. The board really appreciates the opportunity to meet the new incoming lay missioners. First of all, though, was the introduction of Ted Miles who has been chosen as the new executive director of Maryknoll Lay Missioners.
The new lay missioners were then asked to introduce themselves and tell how they came to mission and to Maryknoll. Standing is Kylene Fremling who has been assigned to Cambodia.
After all the introductions and after all the dishes had been cleared away, board members took the opportunity to catch up with each other after a day of meetings.
