Blue is for….

Cambodia is not a disciplined country. That is not necessarily to say anything bad. The country has just not reached the stage where organization, consistency, and discipline is seen as a value.

The lack of discipline DOES create problems when it nullifies the effect of traffic and vehicle laws. One example is vehicle lights. Many vehicles do not have a full set of working lights–or any lights at all. And many other vehicles have lights that are not standardized with the rest of the world–or with anything except the owner’s whim.

Let’s see…. Red is for stopping, yellow is for turning, blue is for….? green is for …..?

And it’s not only the tuk-tuks that have colorful lights. Buses and vans and cars do, too…and motorcycles.

And these pictures don’t capture the experience of the vehicles with all white lights or with the strobe lights.
