MKLM Retreat Monday was a full day of retreat with different activities. Early in the morning we could look across the forest around us and see the spire of a nearby wat. Soon, though, a heavy rain–which we experience at least once a day–dampened the view in all directions. We were under cover, though, and Beth used the full morning to explain to us some of the precepts and practices of Buddhism. In the afternoon Russ reflected on the big porch overlooking the estuary. Hang Tran and James Havey discussing. This was after a two-hour session with Beth in which she taught fundamentals of meditation Buddhist-style. At the end of the day we had a social before dinner. The Meraki people were very flexible and generous and just brought our food to our gathering here rather than asking us to go back to their eating area.
