Today was the travel day for the Maryknoll people coming to the Salesian Retreat Center in Hua Hin, Thailand for their annual retreat and meetings. Some people have been in Thailand already for several days but today everyone traveled from Bangkok to the center in the south of the country.
One group met at Arrivals Gate B in the Bangkok airport to travel together in a van: Maryknoll Sisters (l-r): Nora, Helen, Helene, and Anastasia
At the other end of the Bangkok arrival hall, at Gate C Fathers Brian, Joe, and Larry met up. They were taking a van also but had to wait for Joyalito from Taiwan.
From the airport it is a little more than three hours to Hua Hin. Its always a happy time when people first arrive and get to see old friends and meet new people coming to the gathering for the first time.
At 5:30 there was a social and all were invited to meet in a veranda between the two wings of the retreat center.
A view from the other end of the veranda.
Finally it was time for supper and our first meal together.
For some people there is always work to do. After supper the Service Team got together to coordinate their planning and make sure the evening s schedule was set.
Sr. Regina from Cambodia took the floor at the beginning of the introductory session to lead us through some of the information we would need for the coming week.
After introducing some of the new people, Fr. Larry Lewis, our leader for this retreat, introduced himself and his theme for the retreat with us.
