Monday–19 March

Johanna Karinen’s first official act as representative of the Finnish Association of the Deaf was to participate in the DDP Monday morning staff meeting.
Johanna first came to DDP in 2002–when these DDP deaf staffers were little girls–but now they are all close friends.
In our morning session we reviewed the agenda for these ANM meetings and then got an update about DDP and about FAD and the situation in Finland.
During a break Johanna went with Russ Brine for a coffee across the street from the Deaf Development Programme.
In the afternoon we started going item by item through the plan of action that we prepared a year ago, to see what has been accomplished and what still needs to be done.
On this first evening of meetings, the DDP management and all the staff of the Deaf Community Center, which Finland funds, went to dinner together.
