Having a Dream Center

Korea Telecom is the sponsor behind a new Having a Dream Center which will offer cochlear implants to young deaf Cambodian children. Severance Hospital in Seoul has worked with Preah Ang Duong Hospital in Phnom Penh to establish the center and to perform ten cochlear implants in Cambodian children earlier this year.

This is a modern state-of-the-art classroom which will be used for the rehabilitation component of the cochlear implants. Children who have never heard will now be able to hear a few frequencies–not normal sound–and must be taught to identify what these sounds mean. This technology is new to Cambodia.
The ceremony at Ang Duong Hospital was introduced by a few short remarks and then some of the Korea Telecom executives and the doctors cut a ribbon.
These are the ten children who have already received the cochlear implant after the ribbon cutting. Each child received a special backpack.
Korn Maly (black shirt) was the DDP sign language interpreter for the event.
