Hong Kong
From the USA to Phnom Penh
5-7 August, 2003
I left Honey Creek, Texas at 4:00 AM and drove to the San Antonio airport where I turned in the rental car and then was able to check my luggage all the way through to Phnom Penh even though I would have a 20-hour layover in Hong Kong.  Then I flew to Denver and then to San Francisco.  The economy section of the 747 to Hong Kong was delayed in boarding for about 45 minutes. That usually means something like a person barfing on the seats, necessitating a replacement of the whole row of seats before the next flight.
Arriving in Hong Kong at 6:00 PM the next day, I was delighted to see Fr. Tom Danaher waiting for me in the arrivals area. He guided me on the bus and ferry back to the apartment where he lives in Tuen Mun, and I was quickly in bed for the night. The next morning we worked on one of his laptops and then went to lunch, and then it was time to reverse the trip on the ferry and bus back to the airport. I had hoped to visit some deaf people on this trip and replace my lost Hong Kong identity card, but there wasn't time. I got back into Phnom Penh at 6:00 PM and got home in time to catch the other guys in the Maryknoll house as they finished supper.
