Montréal, Canada Meeting with Japan Federation of the Deaf 20 July, 2003

As the Finnish Association of the Deaf becomes more involved in Asia, they met with the Japan Federation of the Deaf, another major player in Asia, and the DDP to keep open lines of communication and to further develop cooperation among the different groups. The occasion of the World Federation of the Deaf Congress was a fortuitous opportunity for FAD, JFD, and the WFD leadership to get together and talk about long-term plans for deaf work in Asia. After our larger meeting, the new president of the World Federation of the Deaf, Markku Jokinen (right) met with the president of the Japan Federation of the Deaf, Yatuka Osugi, on more specialized matters.
