Four of the seven MMAF members in Cambodia took a trip to the province of Kampong Cham in July, 2000. The trip was part of the orientation of the new Maryknollers to Cambodia and an opportunity to see how the church operates in the rural provinces.

This third page shows some of the children we encountered in the small Christian village along the Mekong River

Boys playing at a Buddhist shrine All of us commented on how many children were in the little village. They were everywhere, with the older girls (meaning 10 or 12 years old) often carrying a younger brother or sister on their hip. The girl having her arm examined by Fr. Juan fell out of a tree while collecting palm oil and broke her arm but her mother wouldn't allow a cast to be put on. She now suffers permanent damage in the arm. The young man beside Juan is a French layman volunteering in Asia.
