The Willa Cather Pioneer Memorial Museum and Archives occupies the former Farmers' and Merchants' Bank Buildiing, erected in 1889 by Silas Garber, early governor of Nebraska and prototype for Captain Forrester in A Lost Lady.   The Memorial Museum stands on Webster Street, the main street of Red Cloud.
