Day Two in Kentucky

  • Saturday (29 May) -- Computer trouble! This morning I booted my laptop and found that five or six keys don't work. On laptop keyboards, sometimes keys are wired in groups, and the whole group can go out if a contact is broken or dirty. I'm not sure if I can figure out how to take this laptop apart to get to the keyboard, or when I can do it, so I borrowed my nephew's keyboard and hooked it up externally for the time being.

  • Then I went into Louisville to visit a seminary classmate. We had a good talk and then went out to lunch together.

  • Then I visited my mother at the nursing home. The weather was nice so we walked around outside. The cicadas are everywhere now, with plenty of noise and plenty of the little creatures in the air, on the ground, in the trees, etc.

  • This evening I was trying to work on the webpage and kept falling asleep because of jetlag, and then the pastor of the Pewee Valley parish called and asked if I could take a mass tomorrow. I like to prepare further in advance, but I got out some liturgy reference materials I brought with me and started preparing a homily for the 11:00 AM Sunday mass.
