Getting Settled

Kerstin and Åsa in their new house

After driving around with a real estate agent to look at five or six houses, Kerstin Olsson and Åsa Helmersson ended up in a better one, located by one of our staff, within walking distance of the Deaf Development Program office. The house is quite large, with the landlord living on the ground floor. Here Kerstin and Åsa pose on the large covered porch that is part of their new home.

Buying motorcycle helmets

After finding a safe place to live, Kerstin and Åsa went shopping for motorcycle helmets. Maryknoll's policies state that all employees of Maryknoll must wear helmets when traveling on motorcycles as part of their work.

Talking with deaf staff outside DDP

There there was time to start meeting people in the deaf community. Here Kerstin and Åsa, in the street outside the office, talk with Narin and Sambo, two of the deaf teachers at DDP.
