Wheelchairs

There are almost as many different types of wheelchairs in Cambodia as there are owners and users.  Some have three wheels; some have four.  Some are propelled the traditional way with the hands; some have a bicycle-type crank.  Some are made mostly of metal; some of wood.  Some have large tires; some have much smaller ones.

Most Cambodian wheelchairs are made here.  Jesuit Services Cambodia is a primary manufacturer of wheelchairs, using workers who are themselves disabled to create and fabricate a variety of designs suited both to the individual's needs and the type of terrain where the chairs will be used.

These are some of the wheelchairs observed at the celebration of the International Day of Disabled People.
