Today was the second full day of retreat and yesterday's rain disappeared with the morning clouds. We had the usual two talks and a liturgy but this evening we added a penance service.
Wednesday
Waiting for the van at the hotel
Each morning those staying at the Don Bosco Hotel School meet the van at the front door for the trip to the Catholic Church center. This group leaves at 6:30 AM.

Friends conversing
The retreat is a silent retreat--no general talking to promote more reflection--but it is considered good and useful for small groups to meet at various times to discuss ideas or to renew friendships among the priests.

Bishop Charles Bo
Bishop Charles Bo is the Archbishop of Yangoon, formerly Rangoon and formerly the capital of Myanmar, formerly Burma. He finds the weather rather warm here and keeps a towel at hand to wipe his face.

A computer test for peacefulness
Bishop Bo is very interested in technology and demonstrated a computer based test for evaluating personal peace of mind.

A priest at mass
Western-style vestments are meant for places where people stand for liturgies, not for places where people sit on the floor for services. Long vestments make it very awkward to get up and down and move about freely.

The hotel school swimming pool
This is the swimming pool at the hotel school. This week we were basically the only guests at the hotel.

Celebrating Kevin Corrigan's birthday
Today is Kevin Corrigan's birthday so we stopped in Sihanoukville at a gelato (Italian ice cream) shop that is also part of the hotel training school to support their work and test their gelato.
