This is the largest group of priests we have had for one of these retreats, about 51 or 52 men. It is a very positive indicator of the growth of the Catholic Church in Cambodia.
Tuesday
Each day starts with morning prayer, then breakfast, and then Bishop Bo gives his first presentation of the day. Each of his talks he illustrates with ideas shown on an LCD projector.
After the presentation, there is time for reflection and then mass at 11:15 AM. Here some of the priests are getting vested for mass.
Today the prayers and the liturgy were planned and led by the clergy from the Kampong Cham diocese.
Notice the walls of the church are not solid but have ventilating slots to allow air to circulate through the church.
This year, because the number of priests attending the retreat has increased, there were not enough rooms at the Catholic center so 16 or 17 priests stayed at the Don Bosco Hotel School on the other side of Sihanoukville and took a van back and forth to the center.
The Don Bosco Hotel School trains young men and women for the hospitality industry which growing in Cambodia. The school can accept 150 students in a two-year program.
Starting today there is an option for adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in a small chapel after the presentations.
With so many priests, meals are served outside under a tent erected for this week. By the time the evening meal is finished, darkness has fallen.
