Medical TripThe medical situation in Cambodia is slowly improving--more modern hospitals, usually branches of major hospitals in Bangkok—are starting to spring up, but they are still underequipped and understaffed so Maryknollers in Cambodia still have our physical exams and major medical work done in Bangkok. I'm due for a physical exam so I headed to Bangkok this afternoon for tests on Monday. |
OK, I'm back with a picture from Sunday. Sakhorn, the Maryknoll office manager in Bangkok, did have a cable that I could use to dump my pictures from the camera. This is a photo of the entrance to the road leading to a Buddhist wat or temple. These are everywhere, something akin to old US cities with traditional ethnic parishes with church all on the same block or the same intersection. This wat entrance is not particularly significant except that right after I took the picture, the motorcycle taxi that I was on went past a backhoe digging in the street just as it ruptured a water main. We got drenched with a high-pressure stream of water. Luckily I was still fifteen minutes from the airport and the breeze from the motorcycle ride dried me off relatively well by the time I got there. |
