Friday / 4 June 2004

This morning I talked to the St. Aloysius Altar Society at the invitation of my aunt. I displayed the costumes worn by the classical dancers in Cambodia and then showed them some slides on how the costumes are put on.

Lost Boys of St. Thomas gathered at Queenie'sThis evening Dan Onley and I went to Queenie's Pizza at Fourth and Winkler in Louisville for a First Friday "celebration" of a bunch of ex-seminarians from St. Thomas Seminary in Louisville. Seven of us recollected and reminisced about the old days when we were in high school and college together.

Saturday / 5 June 2004

The Louisville Catholic Deaf Society had their 15th annual summer picnic today at Sawyer State Park in Louisville. It was perfect timing for me, the first time I have been able to attend. It was great to see many of my old deaf friends and to meet some of the newer members of the Catholic deaf community.

Deaf people playing cardsMass at the deaf picnic

Many of the people played some card game I didn't recognize and then at the end of the day, Fr. Brian presided at a mass in the picnic shelter.

After the picnic with the deaf people, I picked up my sister and mother and went to our sister Mary's house for a gathering of the brothers and sisters who were in town. It was a low-key but very enjoyable gathering.

Kids in the backyard

A little fun for all

The backyard was perfect for the kids to play, and then we got together for a group photo.
