A point of interest for me on the return trip were the cattle feedlots I encountered. I had heard of them, but this was the first time I had seen--and smelled--them up close. Hundreds or thousands of head of cattle are kept in outdoor pens for months and slowly fattened up to bring a better price on the market.
Another feedlot, this one on more hilly ground. The smell of the feedlots is really something, an odor detectable over a wide area. The silos contain the grain used to fatten up the cattle.
