The trip to Svay Rieng used to take five hours but with the new road, that has been cut to two hours--especially when the driver is a maniac and speeding the whole way. About halfway to Svay Rieng, Highway 1 crosses the Mekong River on a ferry. Here vendors swarm over the cars waiting for the ferry to return to the Phnom Penh side of the Mekong. Note the size of those shrimp!
