Pajamas: Phnom Penh Casual Ware
5 March 2012
Styles, colors, hats, designs, outfits vary tremendously around the world. Sometimes one culture is imitating another culture, the young in one place trying to be chic and "cool" like their ideals in another culture. Sometimes different tastes or fashions develop because of the economy or the politics or even just what is available. One characteristic of "fashion" in Phnom Penh is that pajamas are considered very normal casual wear. As soon as young women get home from work, they put on their pajamas for cooking supper, playing with the kids, running errands, or just walking about the neighborhood with their friends. They do wear them to sleep in also but the fashion is much broader than in North America.
