Meetings and Travel 13 January 2014

After yesterday's joint meeting of all the different Maryknoll groups (we call them charisms), the different charisms met separately today. Because the Maryknoll Lay Missioners in Asia are only in Cambodia and meet there regularly, they did not have a meeting in Hua Hin. Instead, some of them started their return journeys to Cambodia today.

	James Havey, Maria Montello, Nancy Davies, and Charlie Dittmeier took an early morning taxi from Hua Hin back to Bangkok. Here James, Maria, and Nancy rejoice on arriving at their hotel.
	Charlie went to the Maryknoll office where he was staying and then went into the city to see the anti-government demonstrations. This is a view along Silom Road from the SkyTrain.
	A speaker's platform was erected in the middle of the street in the Sala Daeng intersection.
	Panthip Plaza is a computer nerd's heaven, five floors of every imaginable computer hardware, gadget, and accessory.
	Charlie usually shops upstairs on the fourth and fifth floors, the lower-rent area, where the goods are spread out in boxes on the floor rather than in the fancier shops on the lower floors.
	For supper Charlie ate at this little street diner near the Maryknoll office--35 baht for noodles and some meat with a fried egg on top.
