Retreat Day No. 4

11 January 2014

This morning Nonie Gutzler used the first session to speak about two more characters in Deep River and then the second session was a ritual, prayerful closing of the retreat. In the afternoon, there was a Maryknoll olympiad with some fun and games for those who wanted to participate.

Morning prayer
At morning prayer, empty vessels were a theme and a water pot was passed around for people to see and feel.
Sr. Nonie Gutzler and Sr. Ann Hayden
Sr. Ann Hayden made an announcement before Nonie began the second retreat session.
Group photo

At the break between the two sessions, we hurriedly took a group photo of all those who had come for the retreat.

Sami Scott and Marge
At break time, Sami Scott and Marge tried out some new and different snacks that were offered today.
Sr. Ann Hayden
Later in the day, Ann Hayden reflected on some suggested topics offered for the meeting of the Maryknoll Sisters on Monday.
Blessing ritual to end retreat
As part of an ending ritual, Nonie gave a blessing to each of the retreat participants.
Singing at mass
The music during these annual retreats and meetings is always lively and with great participation. Singing here (L-R) are Hang Tran, Ann Hayden, Mary Little, and Bill McIntire.
Honoring the jubilarians
Three Maryknollers were recognized in their jubilee year at today's mass: Nonie Gutzler (50 years), Tom Egan (50 years), and Tom O'Brien (40 years).
An olympiad game
The olympiad consisted of three simple games just for fun. The first involved a blindfolded person throwing a ball into a tub with verbal guidance from the team.
A stop for ice cream
In the evening both the Maryknoll Sisters and the Maryknoll Lay Missioners went out to eat with their group. On the way back, the Maryknoll Lay Missioners stopped for gelato at a long-standing shop in the tourist area of Hua Hin. Gerry Lee, Lindsay Doucette, and Hang Tran wait for their ice cream.
