Trip to United States

November, 2014

18-19 November

Preparation Days

The airfare was $600 cheaper if I flew to New York on Monday rather than Wednesday so I came early. That gave me Tuesday and Wednesday to use for individual meetings and small tasks I needed to do.

One of the more important tasks for this trip was to sign a new five-year contract with Maryknoll and I did that today. I have a three-way contract between Maryknoll, the Archdiocese of Louisville, and myself. This trip I am staying in the Maryknoll seminary building pictured here. It offers a good opportunity to get in touch with various Maryknoll offices and departments.

On Wednesday I spent most of the day in the Walsh Building, the headquarters of the Maryknoll Lay Missioners. Here I was able to meet the new staff who have been hired since my last visit to Maryknoll. In the evening the regional coordinators, here for a Mission Assembly, went to dinner with the senior management and invited me to go along. And finally this evening my suitcases arrived, two full days after I arrived, and I was able to change clothes.
