Louisville-Phnom PenhThe trip back was long. I left Louisville on Monday and stayed that night at the Maryknoll house in Manhattan. Tuesday morning I flew LaGuardia to Chicago to Tokyo to Bangkok, arriving in Thailand Wednesday at midnight. Thursday morning I flew to Phnom Penh. |
Monday afternoon I left Louisville on American Airlines. I was supposed to be on US Airways through Charlotte to NYC but that flight was delayed so they rerouted me nonstop from Louisville to LaGuardia, on their partner American. |
It was dark when we arrived in New York City. This is northern New Jersey as we made our approach. |
Tuesday morning I flew LaGuardia to Chicago. Here we are taxiing in from the 27Left runway at O'Hare in Chicago. |
The Chicago airport had an interesting feature I hadn't seen before: a child's seat in the bathroom, next to the hand dryers, for parking a small child momentarily while dad attends to other things. |
From Chicago it was an all-night flight across the date line to Tokyo and then another six-hour flight to Bangkok where I spent the night on some airport chairs, luckily padded. Then Thursday morning I was back in a tuk-tuk on the ground in Phnom Penh. |
