Trip to United States

Louisville, Kentucky

This morning I celebrated the liturgy with two different communities, St. William Parish and Good Shepherd parish.

St. William's is the parish in the Archdiocese of Louisville that is a little different. It is a totally intentional community--no one lives within the parish borders--and it attracts a more liberal congregation who really want to be part of their liturgy and their community. Today Fr. Jim Flynn, a retired priest, was the presider. I sat with the community with Fr. John Burke who is the sacramental moderator for St. William's.

Fr. Burke and I began our exit from St. William a little before the rest of that community because we had to get to Good Shepherd Church for the 11:00 AM mass there. Good Shepherd was formed by the merger of St. Cecilia, Our Lady, and St. Anthony parishes and is more traditional. I concelebrated with Fr. Burke and preached here and also got to meet several old friends whom I had not seen for a long time.

Then I joined with three of my sisters who had come to Good Shepherd for mass and we went to lunch together. After that I visited some of my cousins to catch up with their side of the family, and then I found my way back to the home of my sister Mary where I tried to catch up with some e-mail and updating of the website before my departure tomorrow.
