Today I was able to meet two sign language interpreter friends for lunch and then went to Most Blessed Sacrament Church for their evening mass. |
Back when she was at Angela Merici High School where I taught, Nancy Reynolds took an interest in the ministry to the deaf, first helping out with some activities, and then becoming a sign language interpreter and then succeeding me as the head of the Catholic Deaf Office.

About the same time as Nancy, Sally Newton became interested in the deaf ministry when we were at St. Lawrence Parish, my first assignment. Sally has continued signing, mostly as an education interpreter, throughout the years.

- At 5:00 PM, I concelebrated mass with Most Blessed Sacrament pastor Fr. Jeff Gatlin and preached about mission and Cambodia. After mass, when I learned that MBS was having their fall festival today, I went over to their parish center and ate dinner with the people.
- Then I headed for St. James Church where I spent a delightful hour or so with Frs. Tony Olges, the pastor and my classmate, and Joe Voor, a retired priest who is still one of the respected pillars of the Church of Louisville. It was delightful to catch up with them both.
