Trip to United States

Today was my another day for catching up on work that followed me to Kentucky, especially the preparation of the church bulletin for next weekend. I still had time for a good trip into Louisville, though.

The day involved a lot of running around:
  • At 9:00 AM I went to the office of The Record, the diocesan Catholic newspaper, for an interview with Marnie McAllister, the assistant editor. It lasted 2½ hours and focused on my connections to Louisville.
  • After leaving The Record office, I went to the Office of Worship and talked with Judy Bullock, Barry Mudd, and Tammie Turner. I thanked them for sending some books I ordered for the Catholic community in Phnom Penh and asked about a place to get a new Sunday lectionary. It turned out someone had given them an extra one and they donated it to the Phnom Penh church! That was wonderful because they're expensive. But it also added six or seven pounds to my luggage weight for the return trip.
  • I worked at the English home until supper time and then Judy and Bob English and their daughter Colleen and her husband Allen and their son Christopher and I went out for supper. One of the best parts of my trips to Kentucky is connecting with various relatives.
The first part of this trip I enjoyed the gracious hospitality of my sister Mary and her husband Mike. The last part of the trip I spent with Bob and Judith English. This evening we went to dinner with Colleen and Allen Balderson and their son Christopher, another delightful experience.
