Symposium Day 3Today was the third day of the centennial symposium. There was the last of the major talks in the morning and then a leadership panel and closing liturgy in the afternoon, before a final supper together. |
The fourth and last of the major speakers was Dr. Joseph Holland who talked about large trends in the history of the world and society and about how the church and Maryknoll relate to them. |
After Dr. Holland's talk, there was another round of small-group discussions throughout the sisters' center. |
Bob Short, the new director of the Maryknoll Affiliates, gave one of the brief reports from the discussion groups. |
Not all the discussion took place in the formal discussion groups. Exciting and challenging ideas were discussed throughout the venue during these three days. |
This little group of Maryknoll Sisters started sharing thoughts and insights as soon as the speaker had finished delivering his address. |
In the afternoon the leadership of the different Maryknoll groups was asked to offer their insights on where Maryknoll should proceed in the coming 100 years. |
Sam Stanton, the executive director of the Maryknoll Lay Missioners, offered his ideas with a plea for greater collaboration and sharing among the entities. |
Finally it was time for the closing liturgy and the chapel once again reverted to its primary usage as a place of worship. |
