There were two days between the end of the symposium and the beginning of the Global Council. For the regional coordinators who had come for the symposium, they were days to meet Bethany staff, visit friends and family, and follow-up on work they brought with them. For the rest of the regional coordinators they were travel days.

On Monday at noon, Fred Goddard and Jet Birondo Goddard left Bethany for the last time, concluding a Maryknoll career that spanned two decades. They were making a stop in Los Angeles on their way to the Philippines where they were to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary and begin to set up their post-Maryknoll lives.

By Tuesday evening all the six regional coordinators had arrived at Bethany and Eileen Velicky, Joanne Miya, Joanne Blaney, and Larry Parr made a simple evening meal of leftovers they found in the community kitchen.
