Maryknoll, New York |
This Week
This week was basically passed at Maryknoll, New York with a side trip to New York City on Thursday and Friday. |
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday
These two days were mostly spent on deskwork and project work that followed me from Cambodia by e-mail. |
Sr. Helene O'Sullivan (left) is a former president of the Maryknoll Sisters and Sr. Regina Pellicore is the current treasurer for the sisters. Helene is on a working leave from Cambodia to lobby for women's rights at the UN and in other places. She will return to Phnom Penh in August. Regina still has several more years of service in the US before she returns to Cambodia. I had lunch with them to catch up on all that is going on. |

This is a typical room at Bethany, the headquarters building for the Maryknoll Lay Missioners. Each room has its own closet but shares a bathroom with the room next door. |
|
This is a corner of the Bethany building that most people probably don't even notice even though it is in the front. At some point in the past, this fire escape, a rather large and bulky one, was added to the building but it is very out of the way and unseen from inside the building, and outside it doesn't blend it but is just visually ignored. Many people might be hard pressed to describe it and its location, if asked. |
