Trip to United States

19 June to 20 July 2012

23-24 June 2012 / Saturday-Sunday

Essexville, Michigan

St. John the Evangelist Parish in Essexville is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year. They are one of thirteen parishes in the bay area and now they are in a process of consolidation. St. John's will probably continue to be a center for parish life because of its size and excellent facilities, but it may merge with another one or two parishes and receive a new name for the merged community.

Previously St. John's had a school with grades 1 to 12, but because of changing demographics, their school is now just grades 1 to 5.
St. John School
The present church is only about thirty years old and is quite nice and functional. Charlie Dittmeier spoke at the parish mass on Saturday evening and two more on Sunday morning.

Bob and Joan Fehrenbach invited Charlie to dinner after the Saturday night mass and then introduced him to Todd, their long-haired Siberian Husky.
