Trip from Bangkok to New York City

My flight out of Bangkok to Tokyo departed at 6:00 AM, on this Boeing 777-200. I was disappointed that this aircraft had no AC outlets in the economy section, but it was less of a problem because I had planned to sleep on this segment of the trip.

Unusually, we continued not only with the same UA804 flight number but even the same aircraft from Tokyo to Dulles International Airport in Washington, DC. On that route, the halfway point is always just south of Anchorage, Alaska, about 6.5 hours into the trip.

In WAshington, we changed to a small regional jet and flew to New York City's LaGuardia Airport. We were one and a half hours late leaving Washington so we were flying past Lower Manhattan after 9:00 PM as the sun was finally setting.

Once at LaGuardia, I took the airport bus to Grand Central Terminal pictured here with the Metro Life Building and then walked up the hill to the Maryknoll House on 39th Street.
