Trip to United States

20 September to 13 October 2011

9 October 2011 (Sunday)

All the meetings are finished now so today was a little more relaxed. There is still plenty to do before I leave but I could work more at my own pace.

Again, like last Sunday, we had a liturgy at Bethany and this time it was all the orientation candidates plus one of the staff.  Maria Montello played the guitar and Mabel Tan and Carolyn Trumble joined in the singing.

Charlie Dittmeier was the presider for the liturgy in the Bethany chapel. This present orientation group will be the last to use the Bethany facilities for their training.  Next March the Maryknoll Lay Missioners wil move their headquarters to the Walsh Building on the Maryknoll seminary campus.

I have been taking pictures of all the different floors and rooms of Bethany, to provide memories once Maryknoll Lay Missioners has moved out for good. This is the apartment I shared with two other regional coordinators during the past week. The two boxes on the desk are 56 pounds of new Roman Missals I need to carry back to Cambodia.

Joanne Blaney (left) is the only other regional coordinator still here at Bethany, and today she was meeting with Carolyn Trumble who is going to Brazil where Joanne works in a ministry of reconciliation, especially with prisoners.

This evening Charlie Dittmeier, Maria Montello, Catherine Hockman, and Dee Dungy had dinner together at a Mexican restaurant.  Maria, Catherine, and Dee have been assigned to Cambodia and will meet Charlie there in January after they complete their orientation.
