Trip to United States

20 September to 13 October 2011

4 October 2011 (Tuesday)

This was the last day of the Global Council meetings.  Tomorrow is a free day, and then on Thursday we have a Mission Assembly, and on Friday and Saturday a meeting of the Board of Directors. This was a busy day as we tried to cover several major tasks and also several loose ends.
Joanne Miya prepared the morning prayers for this meeting and did an excellent job.  This morning she did a reading for Russ Brine who has lost his voice.

During the morning work session, Sam Stanton and Margo Cambier updated us on the MKLM strategic plan.

Our Global Council group had lunch at the seminary building where we had a chance to get together with the priests and brothers and get reacquainted with priests we had known when we worked in the same mission areas over the years.

Lunch at the seminary
After lunch our group toured the Walsh Building which will become the new headquarters of the Maryknoll Lay Missioners in March.  Currently it is being renovated as the legal agreements are worked out.

Touring the Walsh Building
The group paused in the parking lot of the Walsh Building.  Being so close to the priests and brothers in the main seminary building (in the background) will be a great advantage for the lay missioners.
