Trip to United States

20 September to 13 October 2011

26 September 2011 (Monday)

Basically today was a travel day, moving from North Little Rock, Arkansas back to Maryknoll, New York.  But after picking me up at the rectory at 7:00 AM, one of the parish staff took me to a local bakery run by a Cambodian family who fled the country at the time of Khmer Rouge. It was really interesting and enjoyable to speak with them.
Little Rock has a really nice little airport. It's colorful and airy and well-planned, and I particularly appreciate the good wifi system it has. I don't mind arriving early at the airport in Little Rock. They even have these little tables up and down the main concourse for laptop users.

When we got to LaGuardia in New York City, our regional jet was put into a holding pattern--on the ground. Our assigned gate was not yet empty so we were parked with the engines running on one edge of the tarmac. An American Airlines planes suffered the same fate and moved in beside us.

I enjoy the ride to and from LaGuardia in the early morning or early evening. There are almost always good views of the city skyline or maybe of the Empire State Building.
