This weekend I drove to Niantic, Connecticut to speak in St. Agnes Church there. It was a very wonderful weekend. I was very busy but the people were very receptive and welcoming. Two interesting priests are at St. Agnes, Fr. Mark O'Donnell, the pastor, and Fr. Tomasz Albrecht. |
St. Agnes is a beautiful small-town church in a delightful seaside town in Connecticut. |
|
Fr. Tomasz Albrecht emigrated from Poland, where there was an abundance of priests in his diocese, to work in the Norwich, Connecticut diocese in the United States. Saturday evening after mass he took me to the restaurant in the background for dinner. |

During the summer, St. Agnes has a chapel open in Crescent Beach, about two miles from the main church. Masses at St. Agnes are 7:00, 9:00, and 11:00 AM, and at St. Francis chapel at 8:00 and 10:00 AM which meant that I preached at one mass, left immediately and hopped in the car to drive to the other church to preach again. There were five masses in five hours with hardly time to breathe in between. |

The church viewed from the other side, to show the parish center. |

Fr. Mark O'Donnell, the pastor at St. Agnes, with his dog Kagen. Mark went to St. Mary's Seminary in Baltimore as I did, and we know several friends in common. |
