Travel Day

24 January 2010

Today saw the diaspora of all the Maryknollers at the retreat and meetings back to their home countries throughout Asia. A few stayed an extra day in Bangkok for medical tests.

Leaving the retreat center
At 7:00 AM the van with six Cambodia-bound Maryknollers left the retreat center in Hua Hin for the Bangkok airport, going directly there. The large bus in the background took the rest of the group to Bangkok, near the Maryknoll office.
Saying goodbye
For most of this group, this January meeting is the only time they see each other so saying goodbye has real meaning. And for some this year, this was the last time they would participate in the gathering because they are finishing their contracts, etc.
Check-in at Bangkok airport
At the Bangkok airport, Lindsay Doucette (left), and Luise Ahrens, Susan Sporl, and Regina Pellicore checked-in for the flight to Phnom Penh. Lindsay has just been assigned to Cambodia and this will be her first time actually in the country. Because she was bringing a lot from the USA, the four put their baggage allotments together so Lindsay would not have to pay extra.
