This was another long day. In the morning we began with country reports and then a presentation by Sr. Damayanthi from Sri Lanka. Then Fr. Charlie Dittmeier gave two sessions on deaf people and their liturgy and spirituality. Then in the evening we had a session looking at different sign languages.
After Thailand and Cambodia gave their reports about their situations, Sr. Damayanthi, a deaf sister of the Perpetual Help Sisters in Sri Lanka, spoke about her life. Sr. Delika (L), interpreted into spoken English.
Fr. Charlie Dittmeier then presented two sessions on spirituality of deaf people as expressed in liturgy. The participants were invited to discuss several ideas in small groups.
An important person at this conference was Vera who served as a volunteers secretary and helper-at-large for a variety of needs during our time together.
Before lunch Fr. Park Min Seo, the only deaf priest in Asia, was the preside for our daily liturgy.

A visitor from the local Catholic newspaper was Sr. Anna, here talking with Fr. Harry Stocks, who spent two full days with us.
In the afternoon there was another time for small group discussions. Delegates from Singapore and Kuala Lumpur made up this group.
Supper was at the Chinese restaurant in the conference hotel and Fr. Sato Hozo led the prayer before we ate.
After eating we returned to the conference room and focused on sign language for various religious concepts. It was interesting to see how the different countries signed the same idea.
