Trip to Sabah, East Malaysia

In the morning, Joe McLaughlin gave his presentation on deaf identity and deaf leadership.  In the afternoon the focus shifted to the delegates as each country gave a report on its activities and well-being.

More than fifty participants from twelve or thirteen countries and regions came together for this presentation by Joe McLaughlin on the identity and role of deaf people in the church and in society.

At the morning break, one of the Korean participants takes a last roll before it's time to head back into the conference room.

Right before lunch, Fr. Michael Chua was the celebrant for a liturgy planned with the Kuala Lumpur delegates.

After lunch, the various countries gave reports on their size, activities, and general well-being.  Singapore was the first group to report.

After supper, all the delegates returned to the meeting room for a cultural show.  Here the Koreans show off both their national dress and a Korean dance.

The two delegates from Kuching, in the state of Sabah, East Malaysia, wore elaborate costumes as they performed a traditional dance.

The Hong Kong and Macau groups reflected their common culture with a skit that featured traditional tai chi.
