| When I got to Kota Kinabalu after the flight from Kuala Lumpur, I was met by the staff of the conference and taken to the Marina Court Hotel where most of us were staying. Right away i started meeting old friends who had come in a day early also. Early on Friday we began our first full day of meetings. |

| In the morning, more deaf people renewed acquaintances as they encountered those who had come in later in the night. |

| Most of the participants are staying in three-bedroom apartments which can accommodate up to six people and also make for very good meeting places. |

| In the evening, we drove in three or four cars to a hawker center which offers a variety of food and drinks. |

| Back at the hotel, Charlie Dittmeier, harry Stocks,and Joe McLaughlin had a short meeting to discuss the schedule for the next day. |
