Trip to United States

21 September to 11 October 2010

12-13 October

(Tuesday-Wednesday)

Early Tuesday morning I was up again and off for LaGuardia Airport where I got flights to Washington, DC, and then Tokyo and Bangkok.  I got into Bangkok late Wednesday night and got four hours sleep before heading out again Thursday morning.

From Washington, DC it was a 13 1/2-hour flight to Tokyo, then a two-hour wait at Gate 38 for the flight to Bangkok which took another 6 hours, arriving there at 10:45 PM.  In Bangkok I went to the Maryknoll office which has two guest rooms but it was hardly worth it because I only had time for four hours of sleep before I headed back to the airport. But I was able to leave one suitcase there rather than drag it to East Malaysia also. Gate 38 in Tokyo
From Bangkok it was a 1 1/2 hour flight to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where I changed planes to go to Kota Kinabalu in East Malaysia.  The hot weather in Kuala Lumpur was evidenced by the thick clouds of condensation that came from the plane's air conditioning system as we boarded in KL.
