Trip to United States

28 June to 30 July 2010

30 June 2010 (Wednesday)

Today started with some meetings about personnel matters for the Maryknoll Lay Missioners, and then the rest of the day I continued to look up colleagues and friends now working here at Maryknoll headquarters and to catch up on some of the e-mail.

I went over to the Maryknoll Seminary building early before an appointment and took a look around to see what has changed.  This is the library, much smaller now that the seminary program and many of the books have moved to Chicago Theological Union. The old seminary library
I had lunch with Ed McGovern who came to work on the General Council from his post in Cambodia.  I met with him briefly in his office before lunch as he filed some papers. Ed McGovern in his office
Next week a mission training program begins at Bethany, the headquarters of the Maryknoll Lay Missioners, and today some of the staff were preparing the kitchen.  Here Joe Regotti, Bernie and Alicia Butkiewicz, and Marci Winston put food away. Preparing for an incoming group
In the evening I went to the Sisters' Center, the third section of the large Maryknoll campus, and met with Sr. Mary Little who has been receiving medical treatment there.  We had a delightful meal and conversation.  She will be returning to Cambodia in three weeks. Cross on the Sisters' Center
