Nothing was planned for this first day back at Maryknoll, New York, but as i went around the building to say hello to the staff, several meetings developed. Then it was time to go to the grocery to get food for the next two weeks because there is no food service at the MKLM headquarters. And then it was time to catch up on updating the website and on the e-mail. |

A pleasant surprise after a morning meeting was running into Sheila Matthews, a former lay missioner and part of the leadership team of what was then known as the MMAF. She was back at Maryknoll for the jubilee celebrations yesterday of a number of priests she had worked with in Guatemala. |

In the afternoon, the Maryknoll Society (the priests and brothers) celebrated the 99th anniversary of their founding in 1911. The observance was low-key but many from the Congregation (the sisters) and MKLM (the lay missioners) joined the Society members for a mass. |
