Trip to United States

28 June to 30 July 2010

10-11 July 2010 (Saturday-Sunday)

The second "church date," as Maryknoll calls our speaking in parishes, was at St. Luke Parish in Ellington, Connecticut, a delightful New England town with a wonderful and welcoming Catholic community.  On these weekends I speak about the church being larger than their parish, ask for their prayers and for them to consider joining the lay mission program, and also seek donations to support the work of the Maryknoll Lay Missioners.

St. Luke Parish is in Ellington, a bedroom community for Hartford, and is just a little over two hours driving time from Maryknoll, New York.

The parish church will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year, but the rectory next door, is a beautiful old house that is more than 100 years old.

After the last morning mass on Sunday, Deacon Harry (seated) and his wife invited several of us to a fine lunch at his home in a neighboring community.
