This weekend I spoke at a parish in Ellington, Connecticut as part of the mission appeal program between Maryknoll and the various dioceses. Ellington is only two hours from Maryknoll, New York, though, so the morning was filled with work in the Bethany Buildiing, the headquarters of the Maryknoll Lay Missioners. |

I need to send a letter to Australia and went to the post office at Maryknoll, NY to get stamps, but the post offices are closed now on Saturdays. Maryknoll has its own post office because of the high volume of mail generated by the Maryknoll Magazine. |

Close to the post office building on the Maryknoll campus, is the Walsh Buildiing, now empty because the social communications operations there were combined into another department in a different building. It has been suggested that the lay missioners could move from the Bethany Building to the Walsh Building but that idea would need to be researched to see if it is viable. |

About thirty young people from various Catholic mission groups are now training in the Maryknoll International Service Orientation (MISO) program at Bethany. Here one young woman practices her mandolin on the front porch. |
