Most of today I was able to work on e-mail that has piled up during the travel to Arkansas because I did not begin my official speaking duties until the 4:30 PM evening liturgy at the cathedral. After that mass I finished the day with a visit to a family who were having a Fourth of July cookout. |

In the morning I went over to the church to arrange all the Maryknoll materials in the pews so that I could refer to them as I am talking. Toni and Diane were also in church, in one of the big sacristies, preparing two large floral arrangements for the sanctuary. |

A focal point of every cathedral is the bishop's chair, called a sedes in Latin. |

After mass a visiting priest had a baptism in the front of church at a large baptismal pool with flowing water. |
