Trip to United States

28 June to 30 July 2010

2 July 2010 (Friday)

This weekend is the first of my four church talks in the United States so it was off to Little Rock, Arkansas.  It takes quite a long time to go a relatively short distance to Arkansas and it is quite expensive compared to the international ticket.

My flight from White Plains,NY wasn't until 8:30 AM so one of the staff at the lay missioners headquarter was able to give me a ride to the airport at 6:00 AM.  The White Plains airport (HPN) is quite busy and badly needs to be expanded.  The greatest portion of its traffic is the small regional jets like this one preparing to depart in the early morning. After a 3 1/2-hour layover in Chicago, I arrived in Little Rock and was able to take a city bus from the airport to downtown where the cathedral is.  I paid only $1.35 as opposed to $15-$20 that a taxi would have cost.  At the Cathedral of St. Andrew, I met with three of the cathedral staff: Allen Pironi, the music director; Shawn Hallman, the secretary; and Josh Hart who showed me around and took me to dinner.
