Saturday morning I got up from my sleeping spot behind a garuda statue in the Bangkok airport and went to the United transfer desk at 4:40 AM to get my onward boarding passes. Then it was a 5.5 hour flight to Tokyo, a four-hour wait there, and then another eleven hours to Chicago. From Chicago it was a one-hour flight to Louisville where my cousin picked me up and took me to her house at 8:45 PM. |

Sometimes international airports all look the same and it's hard to know which country one is in. Narita Airport in Tokyo has special distinctive Japanese touches, though, like this Japanese garden of landscaped small white stones. |

On this trip there was a four-hour layover and plane change at Narita, and then finally we left from Gate 37. After all were boarded, however, the captain announced a mechanical difficulty and we had to sit in the plane and wait 1.5 hours while they found a part and installed it. |

Then it was onwards to Chicago. But the delay in Tokyo caused me to miss my flight from Chicago to Louisville and I had to wait for a later flight. Finally, though, I arrived in Louisville and was met by my cousin who took me to her house for the night. |
